Bio

Anusha Alamgir is a multidisciplinary artist from Dhaka, Bangladesh. Investigating the on-going homogeneity of values in Bengali society due to globalisation, media and the internet, her practice expands through the narration of her personal experiences and memories to unveil commentary about the shifting faces of current culture.
Currently developing her practice in sculpture, painting and photography, to implement and influence methods of creating new architecture. Researching the the female body as a site through notions of self-portrayal, the voyeur gaze, and spaces of performance. She graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2022 with an MA in Architecture. She is currently working on her film "Porda" which is set to debut at the 2023 Venice Biennale. 

She is head designer and co-founder of the publishing company Colors Publication, where she works with independent Bangladeshi authors to design, produce and publish art books and other print items.

 

Workshops & Mentorships

  • Colors Creative Club November 2020: Taught online workshops on how to use the basics of Photoshop to 10 to 16 year olds.

  • Bright Beginning School - 2019 Art Teacher: Taught drawing workshop for children from lower income families in Uttara, Dhaka, Bangladesh.

  • Project Multimedia x Tara Foundation - 2019 Art Mentor: Hosted drawing workshop for students in Netrokona Primary School, in rural Netrokona, Bangladesh.

  • AIA Cincinnati | Architecture By Children 2014: Mentor Architect at Kilgour Elementary School Mentored and supervised elementary students on architecture projects.

  • Tara Foundation BD Board of Directors Charity organization dedicated to providing funds to under-developed areas in Bangladesh.
